Inter help stranded Barca

Barcelona trained at Inter Milan's youth academy on Thursday after being unable to return home because of a general strike in Spain.

La Liga title holders Barca drew 0-0 with AC Milan in their Champions League quarter-final first leg at San Siro on Wednesday.

Temporarily stranded in Italy, the Spanish team staged a 90-minute training session at the Centro Sportivo Giacinto Facchetti which, according to Inter's official website, drew a crowd of more than 1,000 spectators.

Star attraction Lionel Messi and the other first-team players involved in the match against Milan only played a minor role in the run out.

Inter technical director Marco Branca, sporting director Piero Ausilio and youth academy director Roberto Samaden were all in attendance, and spoke afterwards with Barca coach Pep Guardiola.

Barca, who have complained to UEFA about the state of the pitch at San Siro, host Serie A champions Milan at Camp Nou for the return leg next Tuesday.
